What is the Kansas Brain Injury Waiver Program?

The Kansas Brain Injury waiver specifically serves Kansas residents who have experienced a traumatic brain injury or an acquired brain injury. Our program works directly with the waiver and consists of Physical therapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy, as well as the Life skills department which provides four hours of therapy a day, five days a week. (Our life skills department is something that sets us apart from the rest!) We look for patients that have had a brain injury that is less than 12 months old, needing assistance with ADL’s, cognition, psychosocial adjustment, and physical limitations. They must need an in-patient stay with 24-hour nursing oversight. The whole goal of our program is to provide those initial rehab services and then get the patient back into their home and their community while they continue to receive outpatient therapies and services as recommended at discharge. We work closely with Minds Matter and Dream Works for those outside services and set up appointments for follow up physician oversight.
